Endale Arch

Endale Arch 12″x11″ oil on wood panel What a beautiful day to go out and paint plein air. It was a warm day but I was painting from the shadows in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY. I felt like I was staring into a secret spot; Endale Arch provided me with many challenges to overcome. Echo Arch

Echo Arch 12″x11″ oil on wood panel This arch was fun to paint. The rolling landscape in the background a tree clustered middle ground, full of color with leaves beginning to fall. Unlike Dog Beach Autumn, the sky on this day was cloudless and the only movement in this scene was provided by a current in the...

Yellow Scarf

Yellow Scarf11″ x 14″Oil on watercolor paper After asking, the baby’s father said I could take a photo of his child. That was a long time ago on a ferry far, far away. After painting “Let’s Meet at McManus’ ” I really needed to get away from the dark end of my palette. I felt like I had painted this portrait so many times before because I had been looking at the snapshot and thinking about how I wanted to compose this image for so long that the final result occurred...
