Richard Casciato has always followed his own rhythm, and his artwork reflects impressions of nature and the subtleties of light on the world around us.
Richard studied Fine Art and Illustration at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. After receiving a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, he continued his education, studying under such luminaries as Brad Holland, Everett Raymond Kinstler and Daniel Greene. As an assistant/apprentice to famed portraitist Burton Silverman, Richard continued his education as well as producing his own commissioned portraits, magazine illustrations, and corporate artwork.
As he developed a craftsman’s line skill and respect for the subtleties of light, Richard’s focus has flowed from portraits to landscapes. His continued fascination with the vagaries of light and shadow has taken him from brownstones of Brooklyn to the beaches of Mexico; from mountains to backyard still lifes.
Richard’s award winning work over a twenty-five year span reflects the artist’s journey through life. Collectors have particularly noted the feeling of the viewer being “in the painting.” Attention to detail and ease of composition allows an accessibility valued in contemporary art.
