Echo Arch

This arch was fun to paint.
Officially named The Cleft Ridge Span, all who pass through seem giddy at its powerful echo, possibly on their way to the 100 year old Prospect Park Carousel.
I arrived late in the afternoon and was pleasantly surprised with the clarity and intensity of light and color stretching from the footpath through the arch and into the park.

After asking, the baby’s father said I could take a photo of his child. That was a long time ago on a ferry far, far away.
After painting “Let’s Meet at McManus’ ” I really needed to get away from the dark end of my palette.
I felt like I had painted this portrait so many times before because I had been looking at the snapshot and thinking about how I wanted to compose this image for so long that the final result occurred quickly

This beauty was taking a break to refuel in front of a huge plate glass window. I had to snap a photo and try to recapture the scene in my studio.

This was my last acrylic painting. It opened a creative door for me. I have since used oil colors on a prepared watercolor paper surface and have concentrated on the composition and negative space to assist in leading the viewer’s eye throughout the painting.
